Jan 22nd
Class,
This week, you are to read Part One of I am Malala. You should follow directions for the Reader Response Journals to be ready for our class discussions on this book. Also, I said I'd provide a link for a TedTalk her father gave. Please watch this before class.
Next week, we are going to discuss Story Arcs, Theme, and Plot. Now that you are getting a pretty good handle on theory, we are going to dive in a bit deeper on the literary terms you will use. I had hoped we'd get to this today in class, but I think our class debates were a better use of our time. I am super excited to see how well you are approaching these questions and how you are beginning to discern the most important step in a debate: Defining your terms.
I'd like for you each to find one current event or article discussing Afghanistan, Malala, or the education of women in the Middle East. You will need an academic paragraph for this.
Our Spring Break will be March 11th-15th.
