Week 2 Assignment

You are asked to finish reading the introductory chapter in OWMC and find a current event to write on. It is imperative that you check out the current event tab and follow directions. These are very short assignments, but learning to take larger information and distill it into something short and coherent is a skill you will want to master. These assignments give you this kind of practice. You will have to carefully consider the article to find the main idea. I hope these assignments also help you to start collecting a little bit of information about our modern world and the cultures that inhabit it. You have some freedom here this week. Find an article that appeals to you and your interests. If you are a sports fanatic, look at sports in other countries and their headlines. If you are interested in fashion or food, you can do this too. What's happening in these countries? Just branch out from U.S. News and see how things are playing out around us.

I spent the morning reading some headlines here: The Guardian, but you can find them under any major news site if you look under International or World news.

Just a reminder, I will not be in class this next Tuesday. Jennifer Juliano will be there with a lesson for you, but this class will be optional. I will post on this blog the information I would like for you to have. Remember, study your literary terms. I will give you a quiz on these when I return. :)
